Dani
Davis is co-founder and president of half pint productions,
inc., a theatrical production, music recording, and
musical theater workshop company. Under the auspices
of half pint productions: theatrical, Davis co-produced
on Broadway THE LONESOME WEST
written by Martin McDonagh (four Tony nominations including
Best Play). For Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts,
Davis was instrumental in raising the seed money for
what became Jazz at Lincoln Center
(Artistic Director, Wynton Marsalis).
With the music recording division, she and Jason
Howland are the writers and Executive Producers
of Dare to Dream, a song to
benefit UNICEF's girls' education initiative in 25 third
world nations. The recording will feature major female
pop stars, and will be released in November, 2004. She
also conceived, co-wrote and was Executive Producer
of The Dreams
in You from Broadway for the September
11th Fund and For Aria, Love at Christmastime
from Broadway, two other successful benefit
recording projects. Davis is a songwriter whose work
has been featured on recordings, and on national network
television specials. Davis is currently co-writing and
developing MARIEL, a musical
based on a true story about the Mariel boat lift out
of Cuba.
With the musical
theater workshop division, the Studio, Davis is creating a
production and consulting group to develop new musicals in
the commercial arena, utilizing the talents of the 200 member
strong Studio and those of the Broadway creative community.
As a dancer and choreographer, her New York theater
performing credits include Lee Theodore's Broadway dance
company, THE AMERICAN DANCE MACHINE, JOESPH
AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, THE WORLD GOES
'ROUND, and FOSSE
(workshop). Off Broadway, Davis directed BLESSING
IN DISGUISE, written by Tony'n'Tina's
Wedding creator Larry Pellegrini. She served as the
assistant choreographer on Broadway's THE
SCARLET PIMPERNEL, and as choreographer
for the national tour of Kenny Rogers' CHRISTMAS
FROM THE HEART for Hallmark Entertainment.
Davis has appeared in numerous television commercials
and is a member of Actors Equity Association, the Screen
Actors Guild, and BMI. She is a graduate of Duke University
and lives in New York City with her husband and partner,
Jason Howland and their two
children, Noah and Nina.
