Scott
Freiman is a composer and arranger, producer and engineer,
and sound designer, as well as the owner of Second Act
Studio, a state-of-the-art music and video studio for
composition, recording, and production.
Mr. Freiman’s formal music training began with
classical piano lessons at the age of five. He studied
piano for ten years with Reynaldo Reyes, the eminent
concert pianist, and has studied composing with several
influential musicians and composers, including Maury
Yeston and Robert Kapilow. Mr. Freiman has performed
with and directed numerous ensembles, choral groups,
and musical theatre productions. He is currently studying
composition and orchestration with award-winning composer,
Marc Antonio Consoli.
Mr. Freiman recently completed composing songs and music
for the film Exit directed
by Jamie Duneier and starring Kassie DePaiva (One Life
to Live), Tony Lo Bianco (The French Connection), Jack
Scalia (All My Children), and Santiago Douglas (Girlfight).
Mr. Freiman has composed music for several other films,
including Bodies (Boston Film
Festival), Grandmother’s Circle, Midnight
Madness, and Dancing in the
Street. Mr. Freiman was also responsible
for sound editing and design for most of these films.
In 2002, Mr. Freiman conducted a live ensemble at Lincoln
Center in New York performing two of his short film
scores, Running On Air and
Media Mixer: Dance Animation.
Mr. Freiman is also a composer of classical music. A
New York recital of his compositions is scheduled for
2005 and will include a string quartet, a wind quintet,
and several pieces for small orchestra.
In early 2003, Mr. Freiman founded Second Act Studio.
Designed by renowned studio architect, John Storyk,
Second Act Studio is a high-tech music and video studio
equipped for a variety of tasks from recording and composing
to DVD production. Second Act has been featured in EQ
magazine, as well as Pro Sound News.
Mr. Freiman works with singer/songwriter Lisa Lynne
Mathis, and helped her complete her debut recording,
Lisa Lynne Mathis. In addition
to producing recordings at Second Act Studio, Mr. Freiman
played keyboards and composed string arrangements for
Ms. Mathis' first CD. Mr. Freiman worked alongside Grammy
winning engineer Richard King for the final mixing sessions
at Sony Music Studios.
Mr. Freiman is a 1984 graduate of Yale University with
a B.S. in Computer Science and Music. After graduating,
he co-founded Credit Management Solutions, Inc., a leading
financial software company where Mr. Freiman served
as CEO. Mr. Freiman helped lead CMSI’s successful
public offering in 1996 and orchestrated the sale of
CMSI to First American Corporation in 2001. Mr. Freiman
is currently at work on a book about his years at CMSI.
In 2002, after fifteen years of running a public company,
he embarked on a new career as a composer and studio
owner. In 2005, Mr. Freiman will receive a Masters of
Music Composition from New York University.
