Thomas
Keegan may be new to Broadway, but he is not new to
theatre: his BFA is in Dramatic Arts from the University
of Connecticut. While there, he discovered Frank Ballard’s
unique program in Puppetry, and proceeded to take graduate
courses in this field.
Before completing his degree, he was hired by the National
Marionette Theatre, and over his tenure with the troupe
he performed in 37 states. Besides his work with NMT,
he has also built and/or designed puppets for Velocity,
Eating The Dead, Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All
For You, and Nickelodeon.
For three seasons he was a Puppet Designer for Theatremania
Productions, based in southern Connecticut, creating
figures for Nunsense A-Men!, The Complete
History of The United States (Abridged), and
Mackerel.
Thomas spent five wonderful years working as an animator
on the award winning children’s show BLUE’S
CLUES. He got his MFA in Film/Animation
from New York University, where he and his sister Nancy
are the only brother/sister team to earn “Honors
in Animation” from Tisch School of the Arts.
As a performer, he spent three seasons with the Nutmeg
Summer Theatre. He also performed over 700 shows at
Riverside Amusement Park, in such memorable characters
as Antonio Cantalone, Cecil the Snake, and Cap’n
Rivi himself. His television work includes voice over
work on BLUE’S CLUES
(Yes, he is the infamous FATHER FELT in the Thanksgiving
episode) and a “man on the street” cameo
on BETWEEN THE LIONS. He takes
the most pride from being quoted by Ricky Martin during
the “She Bangs” World Premiere Video Party
on VH1 back in 2001.
